Letter Writer’s Alliance

I just discovered this group from a link on Angry Chicken’s Blog. While I’m Blogrolling daily, I try to explore a link that each of my favorites has. It helps me to know them a little better, and also to learn new things and see things I otherwise would have missed. I’m so glad that I found the Letter Writer’s Alliance! They have some wonderful posts about letter writing, new stamps with beautiful artwork, and even letter writing tips. I love handwriten letters, and I especially love sending letters of my own. I’m tempted to join them, but I think I should write a few letters first just to make sure that I’m up for the challenge. Sometimes I can get overzealous about something, and then quickly move on to another passion. I’m such a diletante!!!

I was sitting and thinking about who I could write a letter to. I don’t really have a lot of personal friends that I could write to, and my brother…well, he and I are really of two different worlds. I explored a few pen pal sites, but they looked really cheasy to me. I’m thinking that I could definately find someone to write a letter to if I joined LWA, but then I’d feel obligated to write frequently, and I might feel intimidated that my letter writing “skillz” aren’t up to par. They seem to be big fans of letter composition, grammar, punctuation and spelling…things I might be able to fake once in awhile, but in reality I’m mediocre like most folks.

I think I’ll write a letter to my gay uncle in Washington. He has been wanting pictures of my family, and loves to hear from people who care about him because he feels like an outcast. I think he’s just wonderful, and I would love to send him a letter. So, Uncle Gary…I’m going to get to letterwriting sometime today, and we’ll see what comes of it!
